Evliya Celebi, who had visited the environs of Mugla in 17th century, specifies in his travelogue named Seyahatname that Suleyman The Magnificent had ordered a castle to be constructed prior to the Rhodes Campaign and that the castle had been used as military base during the campaign.
In the travelogue, it was being specified that the castle had been constructed as having four bastions on the main rock, that it had 400 foot walls put by smooth stones, and that there was a epitaph on the entrance door and there were one room for each of castellan, imam, servant and guards.
